Themed parties are always fun to plan. They are even more fun to plan for. There are so many details that need to be taken care of – from the invites, to the decors, the party favors, the costume, the food and even the venue itself. One great theme to consider on your next party would be an Arabian Nights party theme. The theme itself brings to mind images of majestic Moorish castles with lavish parties in halls filled with incense smoke, lit by oil-lamps with veiled-girls belly-dancing. An Arabian Nights party theme is great for children's parties and even for adult get-togethers especially during Halloween. If you are planning for an Arabian Nights party theme for your child's next birthday event, your own backyard may be the perfect venue for this magical event. You can start by setting the mood by decorating your backyard with oil lamps and candles. As children's party happens during the day, there is no need to light the lamps. It will be safer that way with children playing around. Trade the usual tables and chairs set-up. Bring out colorful rugs and large cushions and lay them on the grass. Make sure to set up a cozy tent for the “sultan” birthday celebrant, lined with rugs and soft cushions with a basket of treats. This can be the “special” place for the celebrant. You can also lay around large baskets with colorful cloth containing wonderful treats wrapped in colorful paper of red and gold. These will surely be a nice surprise for the kids later on! If there are small plants such as palms and cactus, group them together with a small pool of water, some rocks and a small sandbox – you now have a small oasis! If real plants or rocks are not available, life-size cutouts made of cardboard will do. All you need is some paint to make them look real. Finally, liven the atmosphere and play some middle-eastern type of music. An Arabian Nights party theme won't be complete without Arabian food for the guests which will most likely be roasted or barbecued such as hotdog, pork chops, steaks, chicken and even marshmallows. It may not be the best time to offer junk food but chips will go well with dips, which is another middle-eastern treat. Surely, everyone will love munching on these!
Now, that you have planned out the details, send out the invitations. Make it shaped like an oil-lamp or have the invitation laid out as a scroll. That will surely get everyone excited! |
